Hydrophilic and hydrophobic fumed silica can increase or decrease, respectively, the rate at which water penetrates the seed coating, thus optimizing germination rates and crop yield. It also reduces waste by protecting seed when stored in areas with high moisture or elevated humidity.  

CAB-O-SIL® fumed silica provides powder free-flow and anti-caking properties when added to dry fertilizer. Hydrophilic fumed silica enables easy dispersion of powder-based fertilizer or crop production inputs in water, so that active ingredients are evenly applied over farmland.

CAB-O-SIL® fumed silica prevents settling and promotes long-term suspension of active ingredients in water- and oil-based dispersions. By promoting suspension and stabilizing emulsions, fumed silica enables the application of a consistent concentration of active ingredients to farmland.
